Bullet in baggage delays OFW’s fight to Italy

MANILA: An OFW, her husband and 13-year-old child were barred from flying to Italy after a bullet was discovered in their belongings at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday, according to a media report.

OFW Oliva De Guzman was quoted as saying by ABS-CBN News that the bullet was inside a tightly sealed box inside their luggage.

A video from the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) shows De Guzman’s husband Jovito rummaging through the box and taking out the caliber .22 bullet from its bottom. The bullet was discovered after their luggage passed through an x-ray machine at the NAIA Terminal 1 at 3:40 a.m, the report said.

De Guzman reportedly told radio dzMM that she personally packed the box but denied putting the bullet inside.

The OFW added that she does not believe in using bullets as amulets.

She was quoted as saying that after investigating the incident, authorities opted not to file charges against her or her husband.

Her family will catch the next available flight to Italy, reported ABS-CBN News.
