Team Philippines wins DOTA-2 gold in SEA Games

Team Sibol-DOTA2 showed dominance as they beat Thailand in the best of five competition for the multiplayer game in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games Esports tournament.

The Philippine team composed of John Anthony “Natsumi” Vargas, Jun “Bok” Kanehara, Marvin “Boomy” Rushton, Bryle Jacob “CML” Alvizo, Van Jerico “Van” Manalaysay, and James Erice “Erice” Guerra managed to win against Thailand,3-2 on Monday.

The Philippine team took the first and third rounds while Team Thailand snagged the second and fourth rounds forcing a decider.

“Because of our change in strategy kampante naman kami na ang late game namin will be stronger than theirs,” DOTA-2 coach Paolo Bago told reporters.

This is the second gold of the Philippine team in the Esports tournament which made a debut in the 30th SEA Games.

The country also dominated the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. DOTA-2 has more than 500,000 players daily across the globe.
