Filipino boxing icon and lawmaker Manny Pacquiao will be the country’s official torchbearer along with an athlete at the Southeast Asian Games which will kick off on Nov. 30.
Two weeks before the opening event at the Philippine Arena, thousands of runners joined the a torch run in Cebu.
Gymnastics champion Carlos Yulo was the first assigned to carry the torch but has to prepare for his competition the following day.
A mini-cauldron was lit in Cebu City to symbolize unity among countries in the sporting event.
The torch was designed by Daniel Dela Cruz.
Also among the torchbearers are Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Mike Dino, Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella and Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chief operating officer Ramon “Tats” Suzara.
