DUBAI: The winner and silver medalist of the recent National Track and Field Championships Finals in Daqing, Heilongjiang province in China have been causing quite a stir and with their photos having gone viral because they looked more like men complete with a “bulging crotch” and what appears to be Adam’s Apple.
Their voice “is too male when interviewed,” the South China Morning Post (SCMP), citing a netizen’s remark said in its report.
Liao Mengxue and Tong Zenghuan finished first and second in 53.25 seconds and 53.35 respectively, nearly two seconds ahead of the runner in third place, SCMP reported, citing the Chinese state-owned newspaper People’s Daily.
The two have reportedly been under question with their triumph at the July 2019 National Athletics Championships held in Shenyang which also attracted similar comments.
Other netizens sided with the two saying its annoying when people douse water on your parade.
But despite assurances by the Chinese Athletic Association that Liao and Tong were females, netizens were not taking things lightly.
“Prominent foreheads, hint of Adam’s apples and a bulge in their crotch. I would say men,” Inquirer.net quoted Facebook user Oliver Dunne as saying.
