PH Army Dragon Boat Team bags silver at World Dragon Boat Racing Championships

The Philippine Army Dragon Warriors will bring home a silver medal from their latest win in the small boat 200-meters Seniors A Open event in the World Dragon Boat Racing Championships on Saturday.

They were ahead of their game but the team from Thailand was able to catch up down the last 10 meters where it paved way for them to clinch the gold medal, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.

The soldier-athletes, according to head coach and paddler, Technical Sergeant Usman Anterola, gave everything to win the race so they can bring honor for the country.

Lt. Col. Harold M. Cabunoc, the president of the Army Dragon Warriors and the delegation’s team manager, said they showed their very best performance against the national squads from around the world.

Army chief Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto also congratulated the soldier-athletes for their latest accomplishment.

Apart from the silver medal, the team also bagged a bronze medal for the 2,000-meter event on August 21.

So far, the country has two gold medals, two silvers, and three bronze medals in the world championships.

The event featured about 4,000 competitors from 29 countries.
