Raptors take on Pelicans, Clippers face Lakers in NBA opening night

The 74th regular season of the National Basketball Association (NBA) will fire off on October 22 (October 23 in Manila) with an explosive double-header.

The opening night will have the defending champions Toronto Raptors receiving their championship rings before facing the New Orleans Pelicans.

The match will serve as a debut of New Orleans’ Zion Williamson, the No. 1 overall pick in NBA Draft 2019.

New Orleans will be parading new-look lineup as Toronto will be starting life without Kawhi Leonard, who decided to transfer to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Aside from Williamson, the Pelicans will be parading new faces in Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Jason Hart.

The second game of the opening night will have the Los Angeles Clippers hosting the Los Angeles Lakers.

Leonard and the Clippers’ other key off-season recruit Paul George will be going up against LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The Lakers acquired Davis from the Pelicans in exchange for Ball, Ingram and Hart.
