IKEA Philippines set to be company’s largest store in the world

The world’s largest IKEA store will be in the Philippines, according to the popular Swedish furniture brand IKEA.

“Come 2021, we will open an IKEA store in Pasay City to give millions of Filipinos easy access to a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low almost everyone will be able to afford them,” IKEA said in its announcement.

The new IKEA Pasay City store will span more than 65,000 square metres, equivalent to 150 basketball courts. The company said it has spent an initial PHP7 billion for the Philippine store.

IKEA is expected to bring 8,000 furnishing products that will bring comfort for Filipinos.

Recently, the company announced that it will be opening its online store in the Philippines in 2021, ahead of the launch of its physical stores in Pasay City.

In a statement, the company said: “The company is bringing Swedish home furnishings and meatballs to millions more people in the coming year as it enters both Mexico and the Philippines, with web shops opening up months before the physical stores in both countries.”

The physical store of IKEA is located in Mall of Asia, and is set to open in November of next year.
