Filipinos can now welcome prosperity, good health, and pray for more streams of wealth to welcome 2020 as they can now purchase items at WeMart Hypermarket for the Chinese New year which are considered to bring good luck for the upcoming decade!

Here are the five food must-haves on your table for the Chinese New Year:

Kiat-kiat
At the top of the list are the small oranges commonly known in the Philippines as ‘Kiat kiat’ that offers a burst of sweet tangerine goodness. These round fruits symbolize both wealth and fullness for the entire year. Eating and displaying them is said to bring good luck, success, and fortune for the person/s who will eat them on the day of the Chinese New year.

Tikoy
Next on the list is a popular favorite that Filipinos always ask from their Filipino-Chinese friends – Tikoy! Did you know that eating Tikoy is known to bring general improvements in your life? The Chinese believe that Tikoy and other glutinous rice cakes signify continuous, year-on-year improvements at studies, promotions at work, rise in business income, and even your kid’s height!

Fish
One dish that’s always present among Chinese banquets will be a serving of fish. The reason behind this is that the Chinese language equivalent of fish, sounds very similar to ‘surplus’. This means that having fish on your table will bring in better savings and increased wealth by the end of the year as a result of wise spending.

Siomai
While many Filipinos love the idea of eating siomai and other dumplings the whole year round, the Chinese believe that the more Siomai you eat during the feast of the Chinese New Year, you’ll get to enjoy many streams of income and money flow for the rest of the year.

Noodles
Last but not the least, the Chinese believe that noodles are tied in with long life and happiness. It is believed that this lucky food eaten during the Chinese New year is symbolic when it comes it the length of each strand of the noodle: the longer it is, the longer will their life be for many years to come.
