Inday’s Day-out: Kasambahays enjoy Dubai

Over the four weekends of the just concluded holy month of Ramadan, approximately 40 Filipino household service workers (HSWs), in batches, had a one-of-a-kind day off to remember as they explored Dubai’s wonders for Inday’s Dayout, organized by the Philippine Independence Day Committee.

On the first Friday of the Ramadan period, the bountiful treat to these “Indays” started with a batch from different groups of HSWs in Dubai, who were treated to a humble yet memorable experience of a lifetime. The following dayouts continued with more groups of participants who had the chance to register through the mechanics announced on the official Facebook page of Philippine Independence Day 2019. Every tour was led and assisted by the Philippine Independence Day 2019 volunteers.

“Sa buong anim na taon kong pagtra-trabaho dito sa Dubai, ngayon ko lang na-experience ang makalibot at makapunta sa mga lugar na ‘yon. Mas pinipili ko nalang kasi magpahinga at manatili sa bahay sa bawat day off ko para makatipid. Kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat kami sa pagkakataong binahagi nila sa amin,” says one of the thankful Indays.

This pasyal had 5 remarkable stops. The HSWs had the chance to tour around the Last Exit, Atlantis, Madinat Jumeirah, and Al Seef. Any day-off wouldn’t be complete without a feast, which wrapped up the Inday’s Dayout trip with a luscious and massive boodle fight for all.

The first-of-its-kind event was also made possible by Emirates NBD working hand-in-hand with the Philippine Consulate General of Dubai  and the Northern Emirates and the Philippine Independence Day 2019 Organizing Committee with the support from Carlos Tourism.

Inday’s Dayout is one of the supported events of the 121st Philippine Independence Day which is just a couple of days away and will take place at Zabeel Hall 5, Dubai World Trade Center on June 14, 2019, starting 10 am onwards.
