How to be more positive in dealing with life

We all experience problems in our lives – with friends, family and society in general. But how do we treat these problems and what should be our attitude toward them?

Wealth and life coach Chinkee Tan, who owns a YouTube channel called “Chink Positive”, says that positivity is key to a better life.

“Feed your mind with positive thoughts”

Tan says negative thoughts are like thieves. They enter into our heads without knowing that they’ve already stolen our self-confidence, dreams and happy thoughts away.

“Make sure na sinasala po natin ang lahat ng pumapasok at tumatambay sa ating isip,” he says, adding that reading and watching uplifting things can increase the frequency of our positive thoughts.

“Surround yourself with positive people”

Tan asserts that we become like the people around us so it’s better to choose our friends wisely and let go of friends who pull us down with their negative outlook on life.

“Kahit ikaw ay isang taong matuwid, ikaw ay isang taong maayos pero ‘pag madalas mong makasama iyan, ika nga mahahawa ka rin. Nakakahawa iyang mga nega na iyan,” he says.

“Guard your heart”

External positivity should be coupled with an internal change of heart. Tan shared that, “Ano man ang laman ng ating puso, ito ay lumalabas sa ating nguso.” So, he says, we must strive to make peace with ourselves and resolve any issues that may be bothering us.

He adds that we should move on from the past because we can do nothing about it and, instead, make better decisions for our future.
