Louvre Abu Dhabi opens on Nov 11

UAE residents will soon be able to visit the much-anticipated Louvre Abu Dhabi as His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, announced that the museum will open its doors to the public on November 11 after years of masterful planning and construction.

HH Mohamed bin Zayed said the establishment aims to help boost the UAE’s cultural presence.

“Louvre Abu Dhabi reflects the UAE’s approach toward cultural connectivity and its pursuit to become a beacon of knowledge and tolerance,” the Crown Prince said in his Twitter account. “[It] is the result of a close partnership with France and is an expression of cultural unity.”

The museum, which rises in Saadiyat Island, will house almost 700 exhibits, including loaned installations from Louvre Museum, Musee d’Orsay, and the Center Pompidou in Paris.

The loans will include Monet’s La Gare Saint-Lazare, a self-portrait by Vincent Van Gogh, and Leonardo da Vinci’s La Belle Ferronniere.
