Filipino equestrian nabs 23rd gold for PH at 29th SEA games

Another athlete brought glory to the Philippines as Colin Syquia nabbed the coveted gold medal in the show jumping individual competition at the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Syquia obtained a score of 37.63 points to dominate the equestrian event.

Qabil Dato’ Seri Mahamad Fathil of Malaysia won the silver medal with 41.66 points and Sharmini Ratnasingham won the bronze medal with 41.30 points.

Show jumping is an equestrian event that would test the skill of the horse and the rider in clearing a course of fences and obstacles, CNN Philippines wrote. Every error committed by the horse and the rider is considered as penalty points.

In the latest tally of the SEA Games, the Philippines ranks sixth with 23 gold medals, 30 silver medals, and 55 bronze medals. Host country Malaysia is still leading the tournament with 104 medals, 71 silver medals, and 69 bronze medals.
