The hottest day in the UAE was recorded on July 30, 2002 in the Western Region at 52.1 Celsius, according to the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The agency has also said that the UAE was the hottest place in the world on June 2, 2015, which recorded temperatures reaching a sweltering 50.5 degrees Celsius in parts of the country.

The heat was at its worst in Suweihan, near Al Ain, which topped 50.5 degrees Celsius at noon. Temperatures had already reached a scorching 50 degrees Celsius shortly after 11am, recorded NCMS.

Elsewhere in the UAE that day, the temperature in Abu Dhabi was clocked at 49.1 degrees Celsius. Government issued a warning to drivers in the area, after blowing dust lowered visibility.

The Burj Khalifa weather station also recorded a temperature of 43.6 degree Celsius in Dubai, while a sweltering 48.9 degrees Celsius heat wave raged on in Umm Azimul.

Meantime, July 2012 was the hottest month in UAE in nine years as the country was affected by hot winds coming from the Red Sea, dubbed “the Sudanese low pressure,” according to the UAE’s Meteorological Office.

The temperature that day was its highest level of 50.4 Celsius also recorded in the desert town of Suweihan.

“This degree was has not been recorded since 2003 and was the second highest since the MET office was established…..July this year was the hottest month in nine years,” the agency said.

The statement added the highest temperature in the UAE was registered on July 30, 2002 in the Western Region at 52.1 Celsius.
