The Philippine Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a change in the pre-enrolment period for online overseas voting in the 2025 midterm elections.
Originally set to begin on March 10, the pre-enrolment period will now start on March 20 and run until May 7, 2025.
The Embassy emphasized that while the overseas voting system is now fully online, pre-enrolment remains mandatory for all registered voters in order to cast their ballots. Only those who registered before the September 2024 deadline at either the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai are eligible.
Filipinos in the UAE can complete the pre-enrolment process online through a link that will be provided soon by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Voters must provide an active email address, active phone number, and a passport during the process.
The shift to the Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS) is expected to make the electoral process more accessible for overseas Filipinos, allowing them to vote using mobile phones, laptops, desktops, and tablets. However, for those experiencing technical difficulties, voting kiosks will be available at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai during the 30-day overseas voting period.
The Embassy urges all registered voters to verify their status on the Certified List of Overseas Voters before pre-enrolling. The updated list can be accessed at tinyurl.com/CLOVAbuDhabi.
