DFA: Pinay, 3 children repatriated from Lebanon

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that a Filipina mother and her three children have been repatriated from Lebanon earlier this month.

The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon said that the repatriates left Lebanon on June 1 and arrived in the Philippines on June 2.

The Embassy said the mother went to Lebanon in 2010 to be an overseas Filipino worker. The Filipina married a Lebanese spouse in 2012.

She, however, suffered from physical abuse and maltreatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Filipina then asked the Embassy for assistance to be repatriated.

The Philippine government placed Lebanon under crisis Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation) in Lebanon. 273 distressed Filipinos were repatriated.

“The Embassy continues to monitor the situation across Lebanon and provides updated safety measures and advisories to Filipino nationals,” the Embassy said.
