The Vatican has given the go signal for the inquiry process for the possible sainthood of a 13-year-old Filipina from Ilocos.
The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints allowed the Diocese of Laoag to look into the reputation and sanctity of Nina Ruiz Abad.
In a GMA News report, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said Abad demonstrated strong devotion and faith when she was still alive.
Abad also became an inspiration to her province until she passed away due to cardiac arrest.
The beatification and canonization process for Abad will begin in April at the Saint William’s Cathedral in Laoag.
Should Abad become a saint, she will join San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod in the list of Filipino saints.
