Catholic church leaders urge Quiboloy to submit to authorities

Catholic church leaders are urging self-proclaimed son of God Apollo Quiboloy to submit to authorities including the probe being conducted by lawmakers against him.

This is the first time Catholic church leaders are speaking up on the controversies hounding Quiboloy.

Caritas Philippines, the humanitarian arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, said in a statement that lawmakers should assert their rights in ensuring justice will be served to the victims of Quiboloy.

“The allegations against Mr. Quiboloy and the KOJC are deeply troubling,” said Caritas Philippines president Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo.

“Human trafficking, sexual abuse, and other criminal activities, if proven true, represent a grave violation of human rights and fundamental dignity, especially impacting women, children, and other vulnerable individuals,” he added.

Bagaforo said that Quiboloy needs to submit himself to authorities for the same of his victims.

“The Senate must “assert its authority and ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into these allegations,” the statement read.
