The infiltrators, found without any documentation, were swiftly transferred, along with the vehicle drivers, for legal proceedings.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Raisi, Director of Terminals and Border Points Affairs at SPCFZA, highlighted the seriousness of infiltration as a security concern for Sharjah Customs. The operation showcased the efficiency of the advanced customs system, capable of detecting various smuggling attempts across ports.
This success comes amid concerns about human trafficking, as the UAE’s recent report revealed a 30% decrease in cases from 2018 to 2019. Prosecutors uncovered 23 cases involving 41 victims in 2019, leading to 67 detentions. Convictions resulted in sentences ranging from life terms to deportation, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to combating illegal activities and ensuring the nation’s security.
