The Philippine National Police does not receive any credible threats ahead of Holy Week.
In an interview on CNN Philippines, PNP Spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said that they are not letting their guard down even if no threats have been monitored so far. The PNP is also on heightened alert.
“Sa ngayon, wala pa po tayong natatanggap na any credible or serious threat with respect to the observance ng Holy Week,” Fajardo said.
“Nonetheless, patuloy po tayong nagbabantay at nakikipag-ugnayan sa ilang law enforcement agencies to make sure na hindi po tayo malulusutan ng anumang banta sa seguridad,” Fajardo added in a separate interview on GMA News.
The PNP previously said that it will be deploying over 70,000 PNP personnel during the Holy Week to ensure the safety and security of the public during the summer holidays and Holy Week.
“For all travelers via different airlines or seaports, let’s all ensure that no untoward incidents will happen at the airports and seaports, especially the baggage or belongings of passengers,” PNP chief Rodolfo Azurin said in a separate statement.
“To those taking the bus, please ensure that the drivers are okay, not tired and the buses are in good running conditions. Let’s keep this holy week one of the safest and most peaceful ones,” he added.
