Terrance Alspach, an American passenger bound for Tokyo via ANA Airlines, had the misfortune of dropping $1,017 (Php55,252.08) in the departure area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 while completing his departure formalities.
However, thanks to the honesty and integrity of the airport personnel, he was able to recover his lost money.
A wheelchair attendant noticed the unattended bills and immediately alerted Aviation Security guard Mercy Pecson. She then reached out to ANA Airlines, NAIA Terminal 3 Operations, and Airport Police Department (APD) for assistance in finding the rightful owner of the money.
Pecson explained, “Naabutan ko yung supervisor ng ANA Airlines, sabi niya may nakahulog daw ng pera… tapos tinawag ko yung naka-assign sa departure, si APO1 Ryan Dela Pena. Binilang ni Sir Dela Pena sa harap ng ANA Airlines Supervisor (Mr. Jon Manoto) at Operations (Ma’am Criselda Macaro) yung pera.”
The airport personnel were able to identify Mr. Alspach and return his money within 30 minutes of the incident.
