As the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry constantly evolve towards the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0, new technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are to be adapted, according to top engineers and architects.
During the first ever The Filipino Times Watchlist: Top Engineers and Architects Summit & Awards in the Middle East held on March 17, Dr. Rajkumar Muthusamy, Senior Robotics Scientist of Dubai Future Foundation, Woderick Peraja, AE Senior Architect of Obermeyer Middle East, and James Roy Jimenez, Senior Architect & BIM Manager of Zublin Construction highlighted how AEC industries can prepare for the next changes and, most importantly, capitalize on the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead.
According to Muthusamy, AI is a fundamental component of Industry 4.0 and through its applications, companies are finding effective solutions, meeting their demands at a faster pace, and tackling larger and more impactful challenges every day.
This was also supported by Jimenez saying that it is an exciting technology and “integrating AI to build in our industry is something to look forward to.”
Despite the significant potential to boost services within the AEC industry using technology like AI, large collaborative research is necessary for development projects.
With this, Peraja noted that “we need to check what are the technologies we need to adapt.”
By adapting to the digital transformation, industry experts can deliver better, faster, and more effective solutions to improve the quality of life for people all over the globe.
The first Filipino Engineers and Architects Summit & Awards in the Middle East, organized by the New Perspective Media Group, featured UAE government officials and leading industry experts held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.
