Global users are reporting problems sending messages using messaging platform WhatsApp on Tuesday, October 25.
According to a site detecting down mobile applications, a surge in reports of problems using the app has spiked at around 11:00am of the same day.
Users took to WhatsApp’s social media account to ask the reason behind the outage.
“Hey WhatsApp buddy, we’re missing you come back soon. We know you’re taking an extra Diwali holiday,” jokingly asked a netizen on WhatsApp Facebook page.
“What’s up WhatsApp?,” asked another user.
The application has yet to announce the reason behind the outage spike.
In general, government of Dubai has limited the functions allowed in the country. While sending messages are possible, you will sadly not be able to make any WhatsApp calls to other people using the app.
This restriction by the government is in light of security concerns and has been in place for about two and a half years.
