Hong Kong records its first monkeypox case from a traveler from the Philippines.

The Hong Kong government has recorded its first ever monkeypox case from a traveler who had a travel history from the Philippines.

Hong Kong said that the 30-year-old man who had traveled into the city showed symptoms during hotel quarantine.

The man arrived in the city on Monday and went to the hospital after reporting that he is not feeling well.

Travelers to Hong Kong need to undergo quarantine for three days as part of its COVID-19 policy.

Hong Kong health officials said that the monkeypox patient had no contact with the community and was classified as an imported case.

There are no identified closed contacts for the case.

The patient was from the United States and then spent a week in Canada and them travelled to the Philippines.

The patient showed skin rashes, swollen lymph nodes and a sore throat in the week leading up to his hospitalization, according to health officials.
