Neophyte senator Raffy Tulfo is pushing to have a ‘strike one policy’ to ban erring recruitment agencies that allow maltreatment of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), especially in the Middle East.
The policy will be aimed against recruitment agencies resorting to violations, Tulfo said during the Senate plenary session.
Tulfo stressed that sexual and physical abuses are enough basis to implement the “one strike policy”. He also vowed to review all the records of recruitment agencies.
“One miss and you die. It is the life that counts. That’s why I will run after them,” Tulfo said.
Tulfo, chair of the Senate committee on migrant workers, also eyes the removal of Kafala, a system used to monitor migrant workers by means of confiscating their passports.
