An Abu Dhabi resident has filed a lawsuit against the heirs of his late friend who issued him an AED 150,000 cheque which didn’t cash.
Following the case, the Abu Dhabi Family and Civil and Administrative Claims Court ruled that the complainant should be paid by the family from the property that they have inherited.

The Arab plaintiff had lent AED 150,000 to his friend who issued him a cheque, which bounced at the bank due to insufficient balance in the account.
Few days later the complainant received the news that his friend had died, but his family refused to pay him which prompted him to file a lawsuit.

The family challenged the validity of the cheque on a claim that the two signatures on it might have been forged, but a forensic expert’s report confirmed that the cheque was genuine.
The heirs were also told to pay for the complainant’s legal expenses.
