Twitter users and even Iglesia ni Cristo members push the hashtag ‘KakampINC’ on Twitter – rejecting the religious bloc’s decision to endorse the candidacies of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and vice-presidential bet Sara Duterte.
The INC, known for its bloc voting practice, has over two million members and politicians from time to time seek the church’s endorsement.
But shortly after the news was made, supporters from the rival of the Bongbong-Sara tandem are saying that they will not follow the church’s endorsement this time around.
“I’m an active INC member and my president is Leni and my VP is Kiko,” a Twitter user said.

“INC ako and it is written in the bible, “Thou shall not steal!” Utos yan ng diyos. Shame on you INC leaders. I’ll vote for Leni and Kiko,” another one said.
“I’m a devoted and an active INC member. Mula sa isang lokal sa Montalban. My family and I will still vote for Leni and Kiko. We will not vote for thieves,” another Twitter user added.
“Me and my friends are active members of INC but we will vote for LENIKIKO. Hugs to my fellow INC brothers and sisters who will continue to support and vote for LENIKIKO. Itindig natin ‘to mga kapatid,” another one added.
The church has endorsed the vice presidential bid of Marcos in 2016 but he still lost to Robredo.

“Ako po at ang aking pamilya, sampu ng buong alyansang nakapaloob sa UniTeam, ay labis na nagagalak at buong pusong nagpapasalamat sa suportang inihayag ng kapatirang Iglesia Ni Cristo, sa pangunguna ng kanilang Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan Kapatid Eduardo V. Manalo,” Marcos said in a statement.
The camp of the late dictator’s son expects that the almost two million members of the religious bloc will follow the decision of its leadership.
“Ang pagpili sa amin ni Apo Bongbong Marcos bilang mga kandidato na kanilang sinusuportahan sa pagka-presidente at bise presidente sa darating na halalan ay isang malaking karangalan na may kaakibat na hamong nakatuon sa aming kakayahang mapag-isa ang bansa … mapagbuklod ang mga Pilipino … at maitawid and sambayanan sa krisis na dulot ng pandemya,” Duterte said in a recorded speech.
“Sisikapin po namin na ang tiwalang ipinagkaloob ng kapatirang Iglesia Ni Cristo ay magbubunga ng tunay na pagkakaisa ng mga Pilipinong nagmamahal sa Pilipinas at walang alinlangan na sama-samang haharap sa mga pagsubok na daraanan sa paghanda ng magandang bukas para sa ating kabataan,” the survey frontrunner said.
