A Filipina aviation instructor was announced as the 2021 Military Instructor of the Year (MIOY) in the mid-grade enlisted category for Naval Education and Training Command (NETC)
This came at a ceremony on board the Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida on March 30.
Aviation Support Equipment Technician 1st Class Beatriz Cruz works as Electrical Phase Leading Petty Officer and Command Lead for Navy Instructor Training Course (NITC) Mitigation Course at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) North Island located on Naval Air Station North Island, California.

Cruz was one of the hundreds of sailors who competed for the title of NETC MIOY and she is also a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Uniformed Victim Advocate (UVA) for her unit.
She is also part of the team that develops and maintains the sailor and Marine training continuum for Navy and Marine Corps aviation technical training.
Cruz is a qualified Master Training Specialist and graduated in 2005 from Regional Science High School – Region III in East Kalayaan, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
