President Rodrigo Duterte is not keen on endorsing a presidential candidate for the 2022 elections.
In a speech in Lapu-Lapu City, Duterte said that he remains “neutral” and has no plan to campaign for any presidential candidate.
“Let me reiterate, nandito man ang media, I am not supporting any presidential candidate. Neutral ako,” Duterte said in a speech.
Duterte is also in Cebu for the sortie of his political party PDP-Laban.
The Alfonso Cusi faction of the PDP-Laban has officially endorsed the presidential bid of the late dictator’s son Bongbong Marcos.
“So, this is not a campaign because I am not campaigning for any particular candidate. So, stop with me kasi ano ito, hindi ito pulitika,” Duterte said.
Duterte earlier said the country’s next leader should be “compassionate and decisive” and someone who is a “lawyer.”
Of the 10 presidential candidates, only Vice President Leni Robredo and Jose Montemayor are lawyers.
