UAE residents headed to Abu Dhabi will no longer need to present their Al Hosn green pass, as authorities will be removing the border protocol starting from February 28.
The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters committee has approved the measure to remove EDE scanners and the green pass requirement at the Ghantoot border – which was required to enter the emirate since December 19, 2021.

This is in line with the earlier pronouncements of the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), in coordination with its main partners, to ease COVID-19 measures further in the UAE’s aim to return to normalcy.
Masks are required in public indoor locations and optional outdoors, according to the notice. The quarantine regulations for Covid-19 interactions have also been approved to be removed. Covid contacts in all state sectors must perform a PCR test every day for five days.
NCEMA also stated that the infected isolation protocol will remain unchanged from what was originally announced. Infected persons, on the other hand, will no longer wear wristbands.
At the local level, each emirate has the flexibility to determine the duration of the quarantine period and PCR tests for Covid contacts in their respective sectors and professions, based on the country’s vital sectors, while still adhering to precautionary and preventive measures.
