Robbery gang jailed after AED7 million jewelry heist in Dubai

The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced a four-member gang to one year in prison for stealing expensive watches and jewellery worth AED 7 million.

The jail term will be followed by deportation.

The gang from a European country robbed a showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in April 2020. They were masked during the heist.

They broke the glass facade with a hammer to ransack the showroom of expensive branded jewellery, including 36 Rolex, two Patek Philippe watches, a diamond chain, bracelets, and bags amounting to AED 7 million.

The police said the gang meticulously hatch their plot, and hid the stolen items in the apartment of one of their members.

The CID team of Dubai Police eventually tracked their location. The stolen jewellery was seized from the apartment.
