A Filipina in Alberta, Canada succumbed to injuries after she was attacked by a carjacker who attempted to steal her car.
Reichel Alpeche, 30, tried to foil the theft on Tuesday, Feb. 1, while trying to stop the suspect, reported Inquirer.
Based on an autopsy report released by the Red Deer Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Alpeche’s death was homicide, but did not provide further details.
The suspect is still at large.
Alpeche moved to Canada from the Philippines when she was 21 to start a new life with her family.
A GoFundMe campaign was set up to assist with her memorial. It has raised more than $10,800 as of February 9.
