The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported the country’s fourth case of the highly-transmissible Omicron variant.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the patient was identified as a 38-year-old female who travelled from the United States and arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on December 10.
The patient underwent all the requisite protocols and submitted her health status requirements before her flight to the country. However, she felt itchiness in her throat and colds starting December 13.
Her test results on December 15 turned out positive prompting the authorities to transfer her to an isolation facility. She was discharged on December 24 following the isolation period.
The patient, who is currently asymptomatic, is scheduled to be re-tested Tuesday, December 28.
The health department is now coordinating with the Bureau of Quarantine and the Department of Transportation for a full flight manifest for contact tracing.
