A survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS) has found that 10 per cent of Filipino families nationwide numbering 2.5M Filipinos endured hunger from July to Sept 2021.
The survey noted that some 2.5 million Filipino families across the country experienced hunger due to lack of food at least once in the previous three months which was 10 per cent of the families nationwide.

The figure is 3.6 points below the 13.6 per cent rate recorded in June 2021 and 11.1 points below the 2020 annual average of 21.1 per cent, but was higher than 2019’s annual average of 9.3 per cent.
Out of the 10 per cent, 7.9 per cent or 2 million families experienced moderate hunger while 2.1 per cent or 534,000 families experienced severe hunger.
The moderate hunger was that it was experienced “Only Once” or “A Few Times” from July to September while severe hunger meant that it was endured “Often” or “Always” in the last three months. (AW)
