Man found alive after spending a night in hospital’s morgue freezer

An Indian man was found to be alive after spending a night in a freezer.

The man was initially declared dead after being wounded in a road accident.

The incident shocked his relatives when they found him still breathing after a night in the freezer of a hospital morgue.

Srikesh Kumar was shifted to a clinic in critical condition after being hit by a motorbike.

He was injured in Moradabad, east of the capital New Delhi and transported to a private medical facility where he was declared dead on arrival by the doctor.

Later he was transported to a government hospital for post-mortem on Friday.

Rajendra Kumar, the hospital’s medical superintendent, said after the emergency medical officer examined him he did not find any signs of life and hence declared him dead.

The body was placed in the morgue freezer and when a police team and his family came over to initiate the paperwork for the autopsy he was found alive.

Rajendra Kumar said the 45-year-old was undergoing further treatment but was still in a coma and ” this is nothing short of a miracle.”

An investigation is currently ongoing to determine how the doctors mistakenly declared him dead.
