The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a domestic worker to six months in prison for stealing $2,900.(AED 10,651.70)
The money was stolen by the maid from her employer’s wardrobe.

After serving her jail term and paying a fine of a similar amount as that of stolen money, the housemaid will be deported.
The ruling was upheld by the Court of Appeal.

Last April, an Arab employer filed a complaint in which he stated that the maid working in his house stole $2,900 from his wardrobe.
The defendant confessed to the theft as soon as she was interrogated and told police and public prosecution that she used to steal money from her employer’s wardrobe. (AW)
