Julian Ongpin, son of billionaire Roberto Ongpin, is now seeking to dismiss the illegal drug charges against him by the Justice Department.
Ongpin argued that the illegal drugs were never found in his possession and has cast doubt on the collection of evidence by the local police.

In an Inquirer report, Ongpin has filed a 19-page omnibus motion to deny the warrant of arrest and outright dismissal of the case for lack of probable cause.
The camp of Ongpin also slammed the DOJ for publishing the indictment publicly without furnishing Ongpin with a copy.
The court has deferred the issuance of warrant of arrest and asked the DOJ to submit additional evidence.

“To deny such a claim to a preliminary investigation would be to deprive him the full measure of his right to due process,” Ongpin’s legal counsel said.
