These pants help track, monitor, and evaluate the movement of muscles and can treat knee, thigh, and other joint issues.

The innovative technology was shared with visitors to Campus Germany at Expo 2020 Dubai.

They were also briefed on how the efficiency of joints decreases and movement becomes difficult with age, accidents, and diseases.

Consultant orthopedic and trauma surgery specialist in hand surgery and special trauma surgery from University Hospital Muenster, Dr Vincent Hofbauer, said people undergo replacement of a joint metal and plastic one and “in order to avoid such operations, we have to ensure that the muscles are moving, as the lack or absence of movement may cause health problems later.”

Using vibration sensors on the wrist that monitor hand movement, the smart pants help doctors assess muscle movement, aid in identifying possible issues and monitor patients’ conditions. (AW)
