91% of Filipinos worried of getting COVID-19- SWS

Nine out of ten Filipinos or 91% of Filipino adults are worried about contracting COVID-19 based on the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations or SWS.

The survey, which was conducted from September 12-16, showed that the percentage of those worried about their loved ones getting COVID-19 increased by four points from the 87 percent last June.

Concerns on getting COVID-19 are also higher compared to catching previous viruses such as Ebola, swine flu, bird flu, and severe acute respiratory syndrome.

The same survey also found that those fearing “the worst is yet to come” with the COVID-19 pandemic rose to 60% in September 2021 compared to the 39% in June 2021.

The new record surpassed the 57% data last July 2020.

The survey was conducted during the surge of the Delta variant and when hospitals started closing their doors due to an overwhelming number of COVID-19 patients. (TDT)
