OFWs await fate of travel ban on UAE as PH decision expires on Aug. 31

Overseas Filipino workers are still waiting on the Philippine government decision on whether it will extend the travel ban imposed on the United Arab Emirates and nine other countries against the Delta variant.

The travel restrictions are set to expire on August 31, but Malacañang and other government officials have yet to make an announcement on the possible extension.

Some OFWs in UAE are not optimistic that the ban will be lifted anytime soon.

“Walang pag asa, ang daming bayanihan flight ngayon September, wag kayo umasa sa gobyerno natin.. wala na tyo maaasahan pagdating sa ganyan,” an OFW shared on Pinoy UAE Usapang Visa and Flights Facebook page.

“Next year nayan sakin palagay, nakita nyo ba mga new cases sa pinas? Tigas ng ulo ng mga pinoy kaya ma stock talaga tayo dito, kaya dapat I ready na natin ang sarili naten na next year pa tayo makaka uwi talaga,” another one shared.

The PH government has extended the travel ban India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia for seven times now due to the threat of the delta variant.
