Senator Win Gatchalian admits that he is seriously considering running for the vice president position in 2022 but only if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will choose him as running mate.
“I’m vying for the vice president position, but this is still very fluid… It’s very fluid at this point because it’s still being discussed with groups. There’s no final decision yet,” Gatchalian told ABS-CBN News.
Gatchalian said that spoke with Duterte a few months ago and he was invited to run under the senate slate which will be backed by Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

The senator said that he is also to run for a higher post.
Gatchalian said that he will not run for a higher post if Duterte will not be his running-mate.
“I will not run for VP. I have already signified my intention to her,” he added.
Former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez also met with Duterte ahead of the polls.

Duterte has been touring around places in the country to meet with officials.
She said that amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2022 elections are happening whether we like it or not.
“It is true that there is a pandemic but it will not suspend the filing of COCs in October or postpone the elections on May 2022. A decision has to be made regarding my political career with or without the pandemic,” she said. (TDT)
