The Department of Health has recorded 8 active cases of the highly transmissible Delta COVID-19 variant.
The DOH told CNN Philippines that the 8 cases came from the previously reported 35 cases.
“For these 35 total cases, we have three who died. We have seven whom we still discovered that are still active for now,” Health Undersecretary Rosario Vergeire told CNN Philippines.
Vergeire said that the active cases are in Ermita, Manila, Cagayan De Oro, and Misamis Oriental.
The health official adds that the patients are still in isolation and have never interacted with the community.
The DOH adds that the local cases cannot be considered as local transmission due to a lack of evidence.
“These local cases that we have right now are sporadic where they have different areas and different timelines for getting infected,” she added. (TD)
