Filipino crew members of the MV Angelic Power — that is stranded in China – are likely to be repatriated soon following court proceedings and crew changes now moving ahead.
Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) — a custodian appointed by the Guangzhou Maritime Court to manage the MV Angelic Power – stated that it had arranged for a Chinese crew to operate the vessel.

MMC said it was given to understand that when the Chinese crew could safely operate the vessel, it would arrange repatriation of the MV Angelic Power’s Filipino and Greek crew members.
MMC had earlier highlighted the need for complying with the ship’s minimum safe manning requirements since lack of sufficient crew could have disastrous consequences.

The crew has been stranded aboard MV Angelic Power in China for 17 months, after the Guangzhou Maritime Court detained the vessel in a financial dispute between the cargo receiver, Guangzhou South China Coal Trade Center Co, and the ship’s owners Angeliki Dynamic Investment Corp. (AW)
