Italy on Monday announced wearing of face masks will no longer be mandatory beginning June 28.
Italy, one of the hardest-hit countries by the global pandemic, will no longer require wearing face masks in areas under the country’s white zone.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza in a tweet said these white zone are those areas where COVID-19 cases are low and ICU admissions of coronavirus patients are below thresholds considered at risk for overwhelming hospitals.
According to AFP report, all but one small region, Aosta Valley in the far northwest, have “white-zone” designations.

Meanwhile, wearing of masks will still be required to be worn on public transport and indoors.
Italy have fully vaccinated 30% of its eligible population against COVID-19. (RA)
