UAE residents reminded to comply with COVID safety guidelines following spike after Eid holidays

The public has been reminded to adhere to safety guidelines against COVID-19 following an uptick of coronavirus infections in the UAE.

Dr. Farida Al Hosani, Official Spokesperson of the UAE Health Sector, said the UAE has seen a rise in COVID-19 infections after the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

The daily infections have been risen to over 2,000 over the past few days.

She said this can be attributed to large gatherings and failure to comply on Covid safety measures during holidays.

Dr Al Hosani has urged residents to wear masks and observe social distancing this coming summer holidays at the end of the month, and Eid Al Adha break in July.

The official added the public should avoid crowds, even if they are vaccinated against the virus.

Meanwhile, Dr Al Hosani emphasized the importance of vaccination to allow the UAE to move forward towards the next phase of the recovery plan.

So far, the UAE’s national vaccination campaign has reached over 87% of the eligible population. (RA)
