The city of Auckland in New Zealand may possibly be the best city to live in amidst the pandemic scenario, after it was ranked topmost among ten cities in this regard by the Economist Intelligence Unit in its report.
Osaka in Japan, which was fourth in the 2019 survey took second place this year, while Adelaide in Australia was third, Perth (sixth), and Brisbane in 10th place, besides Melbourne sharing the eighth place with Geneva in Switzerland.

The world’s top 10 most livable cities – according to The Global Liveability Index 2021 – include: Auckland, New Zealand (96.0), Osaka, Japan (94.2), Adelaide, Australia (94.0), Wellington, New Zealand (93.7), Tokyo, Japan (93.7), Perth, Australia (93.3), Zurich, Switzerland (92.8), Geneva, Switzerland (92.5), Melbourne, Australia (92.5) and Brisbane, Australia (92.4)
Their stability, culture and environment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure were the hallmarks of these cities, the survey revealed while also noting that New Zealand had some of the toughest lockdown rules that enabled the country to reopen, and allow its citizens greater freedom than other countries.
