Dubai Police warn against fake websites for travel bookings

Dubai Police have cautioned residents against unofficial websites for travel bookings to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.

According to Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department, fraudsters are taking advantage of high seasonal demand during summer to lure victims.

With high demands pushing the travel costs, travelers will look for affordable prices.

Al Jalaf told Al Bayan the criminals use this season to offer tickets or packages for various destinations at discounted prices tricking their victims that they saved money.

He added that fraudsters deceive their victims by using links and addresses that are similar to well-known sites and agencies.

These fake websites collect passport and credit card details and then use them for illegal activities.

Dubai Police encouraged the public to only use well-known and approved websites and exercise caution while booking travels online.
