PNP chief says sorry for angry outburst on ‘killer cop’

Philippine National Police Chief Guillermo Eleazar has apologized over the video showing his outburst with ‘killer cop’ Police Master Sergeant Hensie Zinampan.

Eleazar was seen in a video berating the cop for his horrendous act.

“Humihingi ako ng dispensa dun sa outburst of my emotion,” he said in an interview on ABS-CBN News. “Parang isang tatay lang na tinatangkilik yung mga anak na gumagawa nang tama, pero sa kabila ng mga pakiusap ay may walanghiyang anak.”

Eleazar has apologized saying he could’ve been more circumspect when it comes to his actions.

Zinampan, who is assigned to the PNP – Police Security and Protection Group, shot Lilibeth Valdez, 52, in Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City.

The victim’s daughter said that her mother came from a store when the policeman approached the victim, pulled her hair and shot her in the neck.

Authorities are looking at ‘revenge’ as a possible motive since the victim’s son and the same policeman were involved in a fistfight last May 1.

Eleazar on Tuesday ordered the filing of administrative and criminal charges against Zinampan, saying the video evidence speaks strongly about the policeman’s guilt.

“Kung walang video, total denial. Titignan ka pa ng buong kasinungalingan. Pero nung nakita ang video, hindi na siya pwedeng tumanggi dito,” Eleazar said.

“A case of murder will be filed against him today. Admin case will be initiated so the soonest possible time mawala siya, hindi masabing pulis,” the PNP chief said in a media briefing.
