Sharjah field hospital for COVID-19 patients needing intense medical attention soon to rise

The Chairman of Sharjah’s Local Emergency and Crisis Team revealed that a new field hospital for COVID-19 patients who need intensive medical attention will soon be inaugurated.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Chairman of the Local Emergency and Crisis Team, said in an interview on the Direct Line programme aired on Sharjah Radio & TV that the field hospital to be named “Special Tasks Camp” will be opened next month.

The hospital may accept COVID-19 patients from across the emirates, as part of their partnership with the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

It will be located in the Al Zahia area in Sharjah.

Meanwhile, Al Shamsi also revealed that the number of COVID-19 cases are higher among residents compared to UAE citizens.

He said they are working hard to educate the expat community about the importance of adhering to the COVID-19 measures currently in place to curb the number of infections.
