Malacañang has released the latest Inter-Agency Task Force resolution on the new quarantine and testing protocols for all arriving passengers starting February 1.

“Arriving passengers, regardless of their origin, will be required to undergo facility-based quarantine upon arrival,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

Passengers who will be exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms will be immediately tested at the airport.

All passenges will be tested again on the fifth day of their quarantine. They will be tested earlier if they will also exhibit COVID-related symptoms.

“Those who tested negative will be endorsed to their respective local government units, which will strictly monitor the remainder of their 14-day quarantine,” the statement also said.

Once a passenger tested negative for the virus on the fifth day, he or she will be turned over to their respective local government units.

The Philippines has imposed travel restrictions to at least 35 countries and territories with reported case of the more transmissible UK COVID-19 variant.

The country has reported 17 new cases of the UK COVID-19 variant. The first recorded case of the UK variant was recorded last January 7 from a 27-year-old male who arrived from Dubai from a business trip.

Twelve of the new cases are from two barangays in Bontoc, one from La Trinidad, Benguet, and one from Calamba, Laguna.

The remaining two are returning overseas Filipinos from Lebanon whose residences are still being validated.
