PH to receive 30 to 40 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX

About 30-40 million doses of vaccines from the Gavi COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access facility or COVAX are expected to arrive next month, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. revealed.

In a “Laging Handa” public briefing on Thursday, Galvez said they are now preparing for this and welcomed the good news of its approval.

However, there was no mention of the specific brands of vaccines that will first be deployed.

Galvez, on the other hand, said it will most likely be Pfizer and they’re preparing for it.

COVAX is a globally-pooled vaccine procurement and distribution effort co-led by the World Health Organization, the Gavi vaccine alliance, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations. It aims to ensure fair and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and intends to deliver two billion doses of safe and effective vaccines to all participating countries by the end of 2021.

The vaccines will be given for free. (ES)
